That’s the thing to do here in off season. Unless you wish to hang out in shops all day, which mostly repeat the inventory available. Or you could cross the state line and go to Harrah’s, Caesar’s, or Bally’s.
Both yesterday morning and this we headed out around 10am. We hiked the same area, but today traversed some trails in reverse, and found some new trails. We even bushwhacked a little, taking an old, no longer used route.

In summer there’s also a zipline and a mountain coaster. Of course, the lake affords boating, kayaking, swimming, cruises. Gotta say though, the lake beach looks pretty small for the number of rooms available in the chock-a-block hotels, motels, cabins, condos and on. I think summer would try my patience.

Couldn’t ask for better weather. The air is crisp, especially in shade, and the sunny sections are warming.
After a late lunch post hike we return to our room for reading, maybe a snooze. A bit of French. A little work on the Pilgrim newsletter. Catch up on Substack news. Life in the slow lane.
Last night we walked the strip to see what there was to see. Hence, knowing that shops don’t have much variety. There are two types: sporting goods and tourist stuff: Ts, sweatshirts, shot glasses, mugs, etc.
There are pretty lights.

This morning I took an early walk in 25 degree temps. Watched the sun rise over the mountain, turned and saw the moon over the lake. And this…

Came upon an old water tank…

Tomorrow we’ll be in Alameda, CA!
