Alameda & Halloween

I just love Alameda CA. It’s walkable. There is an abundance of spectacular home architecture. It’s an island, so water is never far away. The climate is warm to cool, and on a sunny day, it can be hot, even if the temp is 65. It’s ideal! Although I haven’t lived through the day after day after day cloud, fog, rain that sometimes descends, and I’ve heard can be trying.

We stayed in at the Marina Village Inn, our room overlooking the bay.

On Friday at dusk and early Saturday and Sunday mornings the rowing crews were out. I love to watch them,  and think that I would have loved it; would still like to do it. Maybe that’s next, in addition to paddle board.

Stroke!

We were there (in Barstow tonight) to visit Ed’s brother Larry,  SIL Carmen, their 2 kids Lazlo and Bernadette, and DIL Laurie. Ed wanted to visit in October and I knew that Halloween was a big deal there.

We did a lot of walking, but I only took a few photos of some homes.

So many beautiful homes, some petite and some truly grand.

Friday night we took in the sights of other homes, decorated for the occasion.

These people have large attics. Some, like above, and the haunted house we went through have a huge amount of decorations!

Halloween, the disco was blasting from the porch, the guests welcomed the trickortreaters, and to end the night, the Valkyries vs the Dream, with the Golden State Valkyeries winning the finals! Love their lavendar uniforms.

In between all that, we visited, went out to eat with family,  and ate in with them, too. It was a satisfying visit.

A few last photos…
