Shared Illusions

We bid adieu to family in Alameda and hit the road again on Monday the 2nd. It was a 2 day drive to reach Munds Park, just south of Flagstaff to stay with friends Stacey and Dan.

Our overnight in Barstow was uneventful. Ate leftovers from our German meal the night before. The room was roomy and clean. Although we booked a standard queen,  we found a 🤴 bed – nice surprise. The California Inn is a great value, especially if you are traveling through in summer as the pool area looked clean, large, and inviting…but not in November.

On day 2 en route to Stacey’s we popped into Williams on her recommendation as a “gitchy” Route 66 town.

We actually bought a few things at a shop as gifts. A hat for the young man housesitting for us and something for another who shall not be identified in any way.

Stacey and I met 3 years ago at a national gathering of American Pilgrims on the Camino at Mo’Ranch, TX. Then again this past spring prior to the gathering in San Antonio and walked the mission trail together.

She then stayed with us as one leg of a road trip. While here, she gave a talk to our pilgrim group about sacred places on the Camino. And brought the book she wrote identifying same. I have it and look forward to carrying it with me when I go on the Camino Francés.

Arrived home Thursday late afternoon. It was a great trip! We give thanks every day for the fortune life we lead.
